Letter from the Chair

August 4,  2011

Dear Boston Section Members and Friends,

Welcome to the 2011-2012 year of ASQ events. I would like to thank Jim Shore our previous Chair for his strong contributions and outstanding leadership skills.  Jim is now the Region 1 Director.  We are delighted to have him leading our region.

Our Section Leadership Team has developed an excellent program for our monthly meetings and tours, based on your input throughout the previous year. The program is posted on this website under Workshops . Details regarding each meeting and tour will be emailed to you prior to the date of the event, they will also be posted on this website as the arrangements are confirmed.

In addition to our annual program of monthly meetings and tours, we are happy to announce that we plan on holding the Boscon Conference on 24 and 25 April 2012. We began holding the conference in 1988 and due to its success it has become an annual event for us. If you would like to help plan the conference, you are welcome to join our Conference Committee. We also welcome suggestions for speakers and topics. If you are interested in joining the committee, or have suggestions for the conference, please go to the conference link on this website for contact information.

The Boston Section provides training to prepare applicants for the ASQ Certification Exams.  We conduct classes about 6 weeks before the exam to ensure sufficient time to digest the course and perform individual and group study before the test.  The certification courses are posted on our website under Education.

On behalf of our Section Leadership Team, I would like to thank you for making our Section so successful. Every year, ASQ honors Sections that have achieved their goals for the prior year.  The Boston Section was awarded the Quality Management Process Bronze, Excellence Award at the ASQ World Conference in May.  This accomplishment is due to the participation and support of our members and our community.

Our Section’s mission is to champion quality in the Boston area. We encourage you to be an active member this year by joining us at the monthly meetings and tours, by attending the conference in April, and by browsing and using this website. We look forward to meeting you personally at one of our events.

Sincerely,

Theresa McCarthy – ASQ Chair Boston Section
