ASQ is proud to offer a variety of awards and scholarships for people striving toward quality excellence. Awards are given at both the local level and the national level.

National Awards

  • The Brumbaugh Award – best paper published in the previous year
  • Deming Medal – successfully combined statistical thinking and manufacturing
  • Distinguished Service Medal – lifetime contributions, exemplary & sustained service
  • Edwards Medal – outstanding leadership in application of modern quality methods
  • Feigenbaum Medal – outstanding leadership, professionalism & potential – age 35 or younger
  • Freund-Marquardt Medal – application of quality principles developing management standards
  • E. L. Grant Medal – development & presentation of educational programs in quality control
  • Ishikawa Medal – major positive impact on the human aspects of quality
  • E. Jack Lancaster Medal – outstanding contributions to the international quality community
  • Shewhart Medal – outstanding leadership in the field of modern quality control through development of theory, principles & techniques
  • Richard A. Freund International Scholarship – $5000 annual award – graduate study of theory & application of total quality management
  • Testimonial Awards – recognizes individuals for distinguished service to the Society

Distinguished Service Medal: to the Chairman of the Board 2 months prior to ASQ Board Meetings

Local awards

  • Boston Society Award* – Outstanding contributions to the Quality profession and service to the Boston Section.
  • Quality Engineer of the Year Award* – Nomination by Engineer’s Manager or Supervisor.
  • Quality Technician of the Year Award* – Nomination by the Technician’s Manager or Supervisor.
  • George Mason Scholarship** – $2000 annual award for any student entering or enrolled in a degree program. **The George Mason Scholarship applications are due May 30.  For more scholarship details….click here!
